Introduction
This Refund Policy outlines the terms under which Impactfulwebs (“we” or “us”) handles payments, cancellations, and refunds for our freelance web design services. Our aim is to be transparent and fair, while ensuring compliance with UK consumer law for digital services. By engaging our services, you agree to the terms of this policy. (This policy does not affect your statutory rights under UK law.)
Payment and Project Commencement
After you approve the homepage design preview for your website, we require full payment upfront before moving forward with the rest of the project. This upfront payment confirms your commitment to proceed. Once payment is received and the project begins, we allocate time and resources to create a bespoke website tailored to your needs. There are no mid-project cancellations: because the work is custom-made for you, we cannot pause or cancel midway and reassign those resources to someone else. In other words, once the design and development work has started, you are committed to the project through completion.
No Refunds After Completion
Once we have fully completed and published your website, we do not offer any partial or full refunds. At this point, the project is deemed accepted. We provide ample opportunity during the design and revision process for you to review the work and request changes so that the final site meets the agreed specifications. Change of mind after delivery, or dissatisfaction with the completed work (absent any failure on our part to meet the project agreement), will not be a valid reason for a refund. This no-refund policy on completed projects is standard for custom digital work and is clearly communicated upfront to set proper expectations. We encourage you to be thorough during the preview and revision stages.
No 14-Day Cooling-Off Period (Digital Services)
Under UK consumer law, many distance contracts allow a 14-day “cooling-off” period during which a consumer can cancel and get a refund. However, this right does not apply in certain cases, especially for digital services that begin with your consent or for one-off custom products. Impactfulwebs does not offer a 14-day cooling-off period once your web design project is underway. By approving the design preview and making the upfront payment, you are expressly requesting us to start work immediately on your bespoke website and acknowledging that you waive the statutory 14-day cancellation right once the service has started and been fully performed. This means you cannot cancel for a change of mind within 14 days of contracting us, because we will have begun creating your tailored digital product with your agreement. (In fact, UK regulations allow businesses to exclude the 14-day cancellation right for “bespoke or personalised” digital goods/services that are delivered with the consumer’s consent.)
For clarity, before you pay and give final approval to proceed, you do have the freedom to walk away with no charge. The cooling-off exclusion only takes effect once you give us the go-ahead and payment to begin the service. We take this step of waiving cancellation rights only because our service is custom-built to your specifications and often completed on an expedited timeline. We will always make sure you understand this condition before you confirm a project.
Refund Eligibility – Non-Delivery
While refunds are generally not provided after work has started, we will consider a full refund if we fail to deliver the completed website at all. In the unlikely event that we cannot finish or provide your website as agreed (a case of non-performance on our part), you will be entitled to a 100% refund of any monies paid. This is in line with UK consumer protections that require services to be provided as described, or otherwise the customer should receive their money back. Rest assured, we are committed to fulfilling every project to completion and to the high standard promised. If any delay or issue arises that puts the delivery at risk, we will communicate with you and seek a solution, but if we ultimately cannot deliver the service you purchased, you will get your payment refunded in full.
Please note: A refund for non-delivery only applies if we do not provide the website at all. Delays or minor issues will be handled by working with you to fix the problem rather than an automatic refund. Likewise, if the website is delivered but perhaps requires tweaks or bug fixes, those will be addressed as part of our support or warranty (as per our Terms and Conditions), not as a “refund” scenario. Our goal is to deliver a finished product that meets your expectations, and we will make reasonable efforts to correct any faults in the delivered website in accordance with your consumer rights.
Legal Compliance and Your Rights
This policy is written to be compliant with UK law, including the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015. We want to reassure our clients that you are protected by all relevant consumer laws. For instance, under the Consumer Rights Act, digital services must be provided with reasonable care and skill and as agreed. Our services are offered strictly on a business-to-business (B2B) basis and are intended for commercial clients such as landlords, Airbnb hosts, property managers, and guest house owners. If we significantly fail in this duty, you have the right to have the issue remedied. Our no-refund policy does not override your legal rights in cases of breach of contract or statutory obligations; it simply clarifies our standard practice for change-of-mind cancellations and completed projects. We stand behind our work and will always do our best to resolve any legitimate issues with the service provided.
In summary, refunds or cancellations are not permitted once you’ve approved the design and work has begun, except in the case of non-delivery of the service. By engaging us, you acknowledge that a 14-day cooling-off cancellation right will not apply after project commencement due to the bespoke, digital nature of the work. This policy ensures we can devote the necessary resources to your project with confidence, and it provides transparency about how we handle payments and refunds. If you no longer require our services once the website has been built and paid for, you are entitled to cancel the monthly maintenance fee however this will result in the removal of your website from the internet.
